What do you write here?

Poetic essays provoked by literature, art, music, and film. I also talk with writers about the people influencing their work.

Why intertext (IT)?

Intertextuality is a practice of referencing others in your work and accrediting thoughts to those that thought before you while thinking alongside others in a sort of intellectual community. I like this about IT.

How often is IT sent?

You can expect to receive two posts a month, whether that’s two essays, two chats or one of each. Subscribers receive the full post, but after the initial email entries are put behind a paywall.

Who are you?

I’m Edy (Ee-dee). I do a handful of things in Portland, Oregon where I live. Mostly, I write and edit, but I also teach—yoga, writing—and spearhead publicity efforts for Buckman Journal. I’ve garnered some publications/merits/fellowships for my work and there’s more on that here.

How can you support this project?

Becoming a paid subscriber is the best way to help me grow this project. Otherwise like, subscribe, comment, re-share to your heart’s desire. You can also send me a one-off payment at Venmo if you’d rather not pay on a monthly cadence (@Edy-Guy).

What happened to Lacuna Matata (LM)?

LM began over four years ago during the beginning of the pandemic. Long story short, I outgrew it. LM functioned as a catchall for whatever I wanted to write, whereas Intertext is more focused. Select posts from LM are in a section on my homepage labeled “LM Archive.” If there’s an entry missing you remember and want to read, send me an email: edylenore@gmail.com.
